Why would some rather die than live under Trump? (and the insanity in Canada)

Much of the West is a self-destructing, rotting wasteland of servile, sterile liberalism?

Canada is a great example. It’s where I grew up and a country I know well. Dr. Gad Saad, a professor at Concordia University, mentioned an anecdote on the Rubin Report (8:00) emblematic of the dire situation in central Canada. Often , he says, he gets approached in Montréal with people admiring him his message. They agree with most of his views. But when he asks them who they vote for, they almost always say the Liberals. And that they would vote for the Liberals of Justin Trudeau just as they always had and as they always will.

That is madness. Where is the hope of changing anything if people keep voting the same way even after seeing the consequences of their actions?

How could someone see the symptoms of a sick society (the tragic state of Canada in its many forms), agree with Saad that these hint at something that has gone wrong in the country, then turn around and vote for the cancer itself?

How could they vote for their own self-destruction, and with such blindness, conviction and glee?

The same thing is happening in the US. I know people, polite society types from upper-middle class backgrounds, professionals, who would agree with many policies and positions presented to them on their face, but who immediately reject them as soon as they find out they are Trump’s.

I’ve seen the same thing play out on college campus interviews. Interviewers present a slew of positions, policies and achievements that belong to Biden and ask the students if they agree with them. Most agree without hesitation, only to completely back-peddle when it’s revealed that these facts actually belong to Trump. Suddenly, they disagree with everything they just accepted literally one minute ago.

The reverse is also true, where the interviewer presents a terrible track record, attributes it to Trump, and asks the students’ thoughts. They instinctively disavow them and spew hatred, only to completely back-track and become apologetic or disbelieving when it is revealed that Biden owns the track record.

Saad attributed this in part to affective processing (Rubin Report, 27:30) where people take positions on the affect, or impression, politicians have on them (emotional impact) without really thinking further. They will justify their emotional position with arguments while filtering evidence to fit their bias.

Why is it the “highly educated”, the professionals, that seem to default to this emotions-based thinking when it comes to Trump?

For example, many have a preconceived notion of what a respectable politician should be – polite, non-inflammatory, non-rambunctious, level-headed tone, statesman-like, feel-good rhetoric and words. Biden and Obama fit this bill. Justin Trudeau did too. Even if they had no substance. Even if they are crooks and liars. People are intoxicated and believe them to be good.

Trump uses hyperbole, attacks others, is divisive, dismissive, uses language that is clear, strong, harsh and sharp, is uncouth, spasmatic, erupts, doesn’t convey respect indiscriminately, makes clear value judgements without appearing to weigh his position before speaking. This completely disgusts them. They hate that. Even if he is telling the truth while the politician is lying through their teeth. They would rather vote for a snake that makes them feel good than a rude person who truly has the best interest of the country at heart.

What kind of decision is that? That is not the thought process of an adult.

Canada is full if people like this. Middle-class professionals, modern-liberals. Arguably more of the population are like this than in America. It is a reflection of what comforts them. I believe that middle-class professionals are so used to living in a world of double-speak, political correctness, disguised thinking, avoidance of inconvenient or uncomfortable truths, the use of euphemisms to transform what they say into an inoffensive word-salad that doesn’t profess any real opinion so that someone who doesn’t lie like them, or [put on an] act like them is completely distasteful and corrosive.

It is the same distaste and disdain that comes out in their attitude to the working class, who are rough around the edges and express themselves with less decorum. Their opinions are harsh yet clear. Not blurred around the edges by lies and infinite subtleties to the point of not expressing any real position.

Modern-Liberals are the slight majority in Canada and Europe, and seem to be a slight minority in the US. This would explain why the US is the black sheep in the sterile, culturally homogenized, left leaning, multi-cultural, liberal West.

The disdain they have for the working class is what we see on display against Trump. But it’s intensified because Trump represents the unworthy actually having a voice and taking control of the institutions they believe are rightly theirs to control.

When the working class have no political power, when their protests get twisted by the media and finally squashed by armed guards and police, the modern liberal laughs. They truly see it as what they deserve. But this disdain turns into outright hatred, rage, unreasonable shrieking and freak-outs when the perceived inferiors take away their hold on society, their political power & institutions. A child will have a fit if you take away their toy. They are possessive of it. The truth is, the toy never belonged to them in the first place. Modern liberals are similarly possessive of the institutions and culture of our countries. These don’t belong to them.

They hate Trump so strongly, with such conviction, as if they were possessed. Many modern liberals would rather die than see Trump (and who he represents) take power. Die figuratively on the hill of supporting a party that will destroy them, their lives, their children, their soul, their wealth and their country. Some would actually rather die literally than live under Trump.

Why can’t these middle-class see that their Liberal party, the Democrats, the Bidens and Justin Trudeaus of the world will actually set up their destruction and impoverishment?

Why can’t they see that these actors don’t have their best interest at heart. That they are acting. Acting in their own best interest. Lying through their teeth. That they’re are putting on an act of respectability to deceive you?

Why can’t they get over Trump’s appearance to see that his intentions align with the wellbeing of the nation?
